Logos Christian Academy Update
“A Classical and Christ-Centered Education”
November 9, 2018
Jesus said unto him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.” (Matthew 22:37,38)
Thoughts from the Headmaster
Special thanks to all of those who joined us last Friday for a very special Grandparents’ Day at Parkside Bible Fellowship and Logos! Our students did an amazing job of presenting songs, skits, and poems in appreciation for grandparents. Additionally, we were privileged to honor our veterans and military serving in the various branches of service. Fun was had by all upon the return trip to Logos as grandparents were playing games, taking spelling tests, and remembering trivia with their grandchildren in the various classrooms.
Please take a few moments to look at the red flyer coming home today about our Christmas Gift of Giving Projects and consider how your family might be able to participate. Teaching our students that there is a world of need beyond our walls is a very important life skill and one that honors the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave His all for each one of us.
Additionally, be watching for a very special invitation that will come home mid-week next week with information about our annual Advent Night – a family celebration of the Christmas season. The RSVP will need to be returned immediately with a deadline of Friday, November 16th. (No late RSVP’s will be accepted.) Save the date of December 4th from 6-7:30 pm!
As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, I count being a part of this special place of education a true blessing! I am in awe everyday of God’s provision for our school and all that our parents and staff do to create a nurturing learning environment for our students.
Yearbook… Please forward your pictures to our Yearbook Editor, Heather Gilman at email@example.com. Logos Christian Academy yearbooks are now on pre-sale for a discounted price of $25! You may order online at https://ybpay.lifetouch.com (utilize Yearbook ID: 2750419) or pick up an order form in the school office.
Mascot Art Contest… Logos now has a mascot – a lion! Students are invited to draw their vision of what our mascot should look like and have a chance to get their drawing in the yearbook. Submissions must be in color on 8 ½ x 11 inch paper by November 27th.
Auction Dinner Planning! If you were not able to attend the planning meeting on Wednesday night, but want to help out, we still need you! Look for the sign up sheet in your child’s folder or contact Shelby Dooley, this year’s chairperson at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will need help with decorations, food preparation, auction item procurement, set up/clean up, to name a few.
Get to Know Our Amazing Teachers and Staff! We want to let everyone know that UPLIFT has surveyed our wonderful teachers and staff and have put a binder together of their favorite things. This PINK binder will be in the front office if anyone is interested in seeing your teacher’s favorite restaurant, flower, nail salon, hobby or even how you could help out in the classroom. Check it out. This is a fun way to get to know our teachers and staff.
Photo Make-Up Day on Tuesday
If you would like to have your child’s picture re-taken, please have your child bring their packet of photos with them to school on Tuesday.
See’s Candy Fundraiser
Today is the last day to turn in See’s Candy orders! Thank you for all your efforts. Winners of Headmaster for the Day and Class Pizza Party will be announced next Friday, November 16th with rewards occurring on November 29th.
Mid-Quarter Progress Reports Next Week
The mid-quarter progress reports will go home next Friday, 11/16. Grades for the first half of the quarter will be posted by Monday 11/19. Please spend a few minutes reviewing your child’s grades with them and complete the progress report form. It is due back to school by Wednesday, November 28th.
Save the Date! Advent Night on December 4th
Every year Logos staff present a special Advent Night for families. This year’s theme will be “Evergreen Advent” and it will be held on Tuesday evening, December 4th, from 6-7:30 pm. Special invitations will come home with your child mid-week next week and RSVPs will be due back by that Friday 11/16. We will not be able to take late RSVP’s as materials have to be purchased in advance. Don’t forget to look for it and return your response ASAP. You won’t want to miss this special family focused evening!
Today’s chapel presentation will be by our 4th/5th graders who will be sharing about the great state of Nevada. Join us at 2:15 pm! The next chapel will be on Friday, 11/30, and the 2nd/3rd grade class will be presenting.
Latin Tutoring for those who expressed interest will begin Wednesday, November 27th from 3:00-3:45 pm. Please see the e-mail sent to parents who had signed their child up for details.
After School Art Class Information
Special thanks to our teacher volunteer Shelley Schafer who has accepted a number of late enrollees. Please note that we will not be able to take any more students at this time. Additional after school enrichment classes will be offered again next quarter. Please note if your child is enrolled in the Art class that the time has changed from 3-3:30 pm.
