Logos Christian Academy Update
“A Classical and Christ-Centered Education”
November 2, 2018
“Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Isaiah 64:8
Thoughts from the Headmaster
The staff and board of Logos Christian Academy believe that we have a very special place here for students to learn and grow, while also being immersed in a Christian environment and the Word of God. One of my goals for this year has been to discover ways for us to “get the word out” about our treasure here.
We are in the process of trying to make deeper connections in our Fallon community and beyond. One of these ways is by building relationship with other Christian schools in the general area. This Friday afternoon I will have the opportunity to visit Excel Christian School in Sparks to learn about their Pre-K program and in a few weeks, I will be meeting with the principal of Grace Christian Academy in Minden (another Classical Christian School) to exchange ideas. In addition, I recently met with Mr. Brian Underwood of Sierra Lutheran High School in Carson City. We are planning a joint Christian Education Informational Night to take place later this month to let our community know what options they have for educating their child.
Additionally, we are looking at what the needs of our community are and praying about how we can meet those needs. We are aware that the need for a strong Pre-K program with a Christian emphasis is paramount and have begun steps to explore adding a Pre-K class for 4 year olds next year. In order to do this, we need your help! If you have thoughts about what that might look like, what the community is looking for, or want to help with the planning, please reach out to me – I’d love to have an opportunity to work with you on this special project.
Finally, as Christmas time (the season of giving) is rapidly approaching us, we are excited to provide our Logos families a different opportunity to give back to the community this year through Angel Tree (Prison Ministries) and meeting the needs of some of our local senior citizens. Please read more about this below and discover how your family can be involved.
Blessings,
Pam Duarte

UPLIFT
Spirit Wear… It’s time to order…last chance this school year. Order forms are coming home this week – check your child’s folder. Last day to turn them in is next Thursday, November 8th – please turn them into the school office.
Yearbook… Please forward your pictures to our Yearbook Editor, Heather Gilman at hez13dize@yahoo.com.
Logos Christian Academy yearbooks are now on pre-sale for a discounted price of $25! You may order online at https://ybpay.lifetouch.com (utilize Yearbook ID: 2750419) or pick up an order form in the school office.
Mascot Art Contest… Look for the blue flyer in this week’s folders about our Mascot Art Contest. Logos now has a mascot – a lion! Students are invited to draw their vision of what our mascot should look like and have a chance to get their drawing in the yearbook. Submissions must be in color on 8 ½ x 11 inch paper by November 27th.
Auction Dinner Planning! We are excited about our Spring Dinner Auction coming March 23rd and need your help to plan, organize, and execute this huge event! Two years ago, we were able to raise over $35,000 and had close to 240 attendees. There are lots of ways to help. Interested? Please come to our first planning meeting next Wednesday, November 7th at 6:30 pm at the school. If you aren’t able to attend, but want to help out, contact Shelby Dooley, this year’s chairperson, at rcooper@coloradotbc.com. We will need help with decorations, food preparation, set up/clean up, auction item procurement, to name a few.
School Updates
See’s Candies Fundraiser
Make sure your child is collecting those See’s Candies orders! They are perfect for Christmas gifts. Additional order forms are available in the school office! Deadline to turn orders in is next Friday, November 9th. The student collecting the most money will win the opportunity to be “Headmaster” for the day with Mrs. Duarte, including lunch out! Class with most sales will earn a pizza party.
Chapel Presentation
You are invited to join us next Friday, November 9th, for a special chapel presentation by our 4th and 5th graders. Chapel starts at 2:15 pm. You won’t want to miss it!
Christmas Giving
This season provides a wonderful opportunity for families to experience the joy of giving! Logos has embarked on a new project this year through Angel Tree and The Homestead Assisted Living. We will have 30 gift tags on a Christmas tree in our office starting November 13 – stop by and pick one to purchase a gift for someone in need. There are tags for children whose parent(s) is in prison and tags for senior citizens from The Homestead. Gifts should be wrapped and return to Logos no later than Wednesday, December 12th. Thank you for your support.
Exploring Adding a Pre-K Class Next Year
We are exploring the possibility of adding a Pre-K class to Logos next year. We would appreciate having a couple of parents or community members who would be willing to serve on a committee with Mrs. Duarte to explore this exciting opportunity. If interested, please contact Pam Duarte at pduarte@logosfallon.org
Lots of Logos Uniforms Available!
It’s that time in the school year when you notice your child is growing and may need the next size up! We have an abundance of used school uniforms (all sizes) available for free. If interested, check in with Mrs. Mitchell in the office and she will show you where you can “shop” and save money!
