“A Classical and Christ-Centered Education”
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
For Week of May 3, 2021
Thoughts from the Headmaster
Lots of hard work and many hours have gone into making our “Let’s Taco-bout a Great Future” Auction Dinner tomorrow evening! I look forward to seeing many of you there. The raffle and silent auction start at 5:00 p.m. with dinner service beginning at 5:30, followed by the Live Auction! It will be held at Oasis Community Church and is guaranteed to be a wonderful time! Special thanks to Mrs. Sowersby, our amazing school secretary, and her committee for all their efforts to make it a success!
Part of our evening will include a “Fund in Need” request to raise funds to go toward our Capital Campaign. We are outgrowing our current facility, which we lease, and are praying about how we can possibly expand in the future. Along with that growth comes a current need for volunteer help over this next month. We are starting a new 3-year-old Preschool class in the fall in the area where our school library is currently located. The library will be moved into our existing shed building, which is in the process of being completely cleaned out. Special thanks to the middle school students, our teachers, Wende and Camryn Hook, and Mr. Ludlow, who have already been helping with the project.
Areas of need include:
- Move items to our off-site storage building
- Dismantle and remove the current shelving
- Anchor small plastic shed to building
- Sweep out and wash down
- Possibly install a window air conditioner/ heater
- Prep and paint the walls
- Carpet installed
- Move the library shelving and books to their new location
After this is completed, a wall will be installed in our current library and our 3-year-old classroom will be able to be set up and approved with childcare licensing to open in the fall. If you are able to help out in any way, please let me know. It is greatly appreciated!!
It is an incredible blessing to have the opportunity to be a part of what God is doing here at Logos and your part is so very important!
Blessings,
Pam Duarte
School Update
Vision Screening This Thursday
The Fallon Lion’s Club will be conducting a vision screening for all of our students this coming Thursday, May 6th in the morning. They will be measuring for refractions, eye alignment, pupillary distance and pupil size. Parents will be notified of any vision concerns and will be given a voucher form from VSP Insurance if they do not have eye insurance. Additionally, the Lions will cover any further expenses not covered by VSP Insurance, including glasses and surgeries. What an amazing gift!
Teacher Appreciation Week
Did you know that this is National Teacher Appreciation Week? We are very grateful for our amazing UPLIFT parent group who will be doing some special things for our teachers, including providing a delicious lunch on Tuesday. Please consider also talking with your children about what they appreciate or are grateful for about their teacher and take a few minutes to make a card, draw a picture, or find a way to show your family’s appreciation for all our teachers do. As a former teacher, I used to keep a box of little notes and pictures from my students, and I would revisit it when I was having a hard day. A kind word goes a long way!

Important Information about Opportunity Scholarship
In the past a number of our students were able to attend Logos due to the Opportunity Scholarship program. We have not been able to offer these scholarships the past 2 years due to additional provisions that were placed on the program in 2019 in the Nevada Legislature. This program is funded by business donations across the state and there is current legislation attempting to open the program back up. Please consider going to the following link and sending a quick e-mail asking Nevada legislators to open the Opportunity Scholarship program back up, to make funding permanent, and to keep their promises of not leaving Nevada kids without school options. We appreciate your support! Go to: https://p2a.co/tqrspDY
Job Opportunity at Logos
Do you know someone who enjoys working with kids, has a passion for literature/writing/history, and would be a great fit with our amazing staff? We are looking to fill our 5th-8th Humanities position for the 2021-2022 school year. Please refer anyone who may be interested to Mrs. Duarte at pduarte@logosfallon.org for further information.
