Logos Christian Academy Update
“A Classical and Christ-Centered Education”
November 16, 2018
“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100-1-5
Thoughts from the Headmaster
We have so many wonderful things coming up to ring in this joyous season of Thanksgiving and Christmas! Please remember to turn in your RSVP for Logos Family Advent Night by TODAY! No late reservations can be accepted. This is an incredibly special evening you won’t want to miss.
Please stop by the office and select an ornament off our Giving Tree to purchase a gift for either an elderly resident of The Homestead or a gift of clothing or a toy for Angel Tree (a ministry of Prison Ministries which supplies a gift for children of prisoners). We will have more Angel Tree recipients available after Thanksgiving. Gifts should be wrapped and returned no later than December 12th. Please be sure to pick up the green sheet with directions and to sign on the log which person you are purchasing a gift for.
We greatly appreciate your spreading the word or posting a flyer about our upcoming Christian Education Night: A Choice for Excellence on Tuesday, December 11th. We will be partnering with Sierra Lutheran High School to spread the word to our community about the options they have for providing their children with a Christ focused education. You may want to attend to hear more about the high school option for when your child completes their education at Logos, and/or you may want to share the information with those who would be interested in hearing what options they have here in Fallon for K-8. We also hope to have an update about the possible Pre-K program here next year. Flyers to share are available in the school office.
Our students will be doing their annual Christmas caroling in the community on Tuesday, December 18th during the school day. If you are able to help provide a truck with trailer and hay bales, we would greatly appreciate it. We will need 2, each which can accommodate about 30-35 people. Let me know if you are able and willing!
Finally, my heart’s desire is that each one of you experience a restful, joy-filled week of family festivities and Thanksgiving celebrations. We truly have much to be thankful for and this is a wonderful time to be reminded of our many blessings. One of my greatest blessings this year is being able to come to work each day with the incredible Logos staff who give their all each day for your children, to see the joy of learning on children’s faces and receive their sincere hugs of love, and to know that I am on this journey with an amazing and devoted group of parents. Thank you!
Blessings,
Pam Duarte

Auction Dinner Planning! Thank you to all of those who have responded to the call for volunteers for our major fundraiser of the year – the Auction Dinner taking place March 23rd. If you haven’t responded yet and would like to help, please contact this year’s chairperson Shelby Cooper at rcooper@coloradotbc.com. We will need help with decorations, food preparation, auction item procurement, set up/clean up, to name a few.
Get to Know Our Amazing Teachers and Staff! Looking for a special gift for your child’s teacher for the holidays? UPLIFT has put a binder together of their favorite things. This PINK binder will be in the front office if anyone is interested in seeing your teacher’s favorite restaurant, flower, nail salon, hobby or even how you could help out in the classroom. Check it out. This is a fun way to get to know our teachers and staff.
School Updates
Mid-Quarter Progress Reports
The mid-quarter progress reports will come home today. Grades for the first half of the quarter will be posted by Monday 11/19. (Please wait until then so grades are current.) We would appreciate it if you would spend a few minutes reviewing your child’s grades with them and complete the progress report form. It is due back to school by Wednesday, November 28th.
See’s Candies Sale a Success!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the See’s Candies Fundraiser this year! Our preliminary numbers show that we sold over $13,555 worth of candy. We will let you know what our actual profit was in the next LCA Update. We had 38 students participate with 8 students each bringing in over $500.
Our top winner was first grader Kenton Horn with a whopping $1775.80. He will be Headmaster for the Day with Mrs. Duarte on November 29th. First grade also had 4 of the top 8 candy sellers, winning them the pizza party, bringing in a total of $4939.70. The 2nd place class prize goes to Kindergarten with $2895.30, and they will win an ice cream party. Those selling over $500 included Kenton Horn, Kennedi King, Hadley Cooper, Jaleigh Woods, Ava Bunyard, Ander Fisher, Evan Mitchell, and Hayden Cooper. Thank you everyone for your amazing support!
Chapel Presentations
Our next chapel will be on Friday, 11/30 at 2:15 pm. The 2nd/3rd grade class will be presenting. Plan to join us!
Latin Tutoring
Latin Tutoring for those who expressed interest will begin Wednesday, November 28th from 3:00-3:45 pm. Please see the e-mail sent to parents who had signed their child up for details. Please make note in your calendars!
After School Enrichment Class – 3rd Quarter
We would love to be able to offer another After School Enrichment class next quarter. The art class this quarter has been a huge success with 24 students signed up! If you are interested in volunteering your time for 6 weeks, we’d love to hear your ideas. We are specifically looking for someone willing to do something with music or science exploration. (We have a great idea book called “Beakers, Bubbles, and the Bible” if someone is interested in trying their hand at it!) We would love to hear your ideas – it’s a fun way to get your volunteer hours in and connect with the students in an engaging way!
