Thoughts from the Headmaster
Hopefully everyone has adjusted to the time change and spring seems to be in the air! This coming week marks the end of the 3rd quarter of the 2020-2021 school year! Please note the important information on various upcoming events below.
This past week our 7th/8th graders participated by serving in a new community Soup Kitchen at Top Gun Restaurant – made available every Tuesday to those who need a warm meal. Our students enjoyed serving the guests and look forward to making it a monthly service opportunity. They especially enjoyed being able to interact with those who came in!
You should be receiving in the mail the Tuition Preference Form for the new school year. Please note that the $150 deposit/curriculum fee (if not already paid) is due by May 14th, along with this form which designates if you plan to pay in full, or over a 10 or 12 month period. We appreciate your kind attention to this matter as we plan for next year.
We appreciate any efforts you can make to spread the word about Logos Christian Academy… We have started enrolling for the 2021-2022 school year and have very few spaces available in several of the classrooms. There is one open spot in the 4 year old PreK class and 4 spots in our new 3 year old class (please note that children must be 3 years old prior to August to enroll at this time). We have some room in our K-2nd grade classrooms and only 1-2 spots left in 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th grade at this time. So, if you know of someone considering us, please encourage them to apply now. Our process includes assessment and a Family Interview. Thank you for your support in this way!
Blessings,
Pam Duarte

Thoughts from the Headmaster
Please take a few minutes to respond to the Parent Survey that is coming home today. There are about 16 questions, most of which are multiple choice, with an opportunity to include comments, if you wish. Your responses will help us to know what we are doing well and where we need to improve. Including your name is optional. Please return completed surveys to school in the attached envelope by February 15th. Thank you for your participation.
Letters of Intent will be sent home next week. This will outline our tuition schedule for the 2019-2020 school year and ask you to let us know your intentions for your child’s attendance at Logos next year. This enables us to plan accordingly for staffing, as well as curriculum.
Congratulations to all our students who were honored at our Awards Chapel today for Spelling Bee, Math Olympics, Honor Roll A (1st and 2nd quarter) and Honor Roll AB (1st and 2nd quarter). Over half our students received awards in at least one area. We were also reminded that while we recognize the hard work and effort that the students have put into their studies, ultimately we want to give God the glory and praise. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” I Corinthians 10:31.
Blessings,
Pam Duarte

Thoughts from the Headmaster
The life of a Headmaster can be exciting because you never quite know what each day will bring! One of my responsibilities includes observing and evaluating teachers and I always enjoy what I learn in the process.
While I make every effort to get into classrooms as much as possible for informal check-in’s, formal observations are completed annually for veteran teachers and twice a year for new teachers. I’m currently half way through the second round of observations for the year and wanted to share some highlights from my visits.
- In the Middle School class, students were studying the topic of health and more specifically addiction. They discussed the quote “Our hearts are restless until we find rest in You.” (Augustine) and how that related to the topic of addiction. Miss Jung defined substance as something that alters the function of one or more of your organs and a discussion about sugar and caffeine focused on how those items also impact our health. At the end of the lesson, each student was handed an item (I.e. soda, energy drink, cough medicine, poppy seeds, green tea) and they shared out if it was a stimulant or depressant and how it affects the body. In conclusion, the teacher circled back to the quote from the beginning of the lesson and shared about the “God shaped hole” that each of us has and pointed out that our true fulfillment comes from our relationship with Jesus.
- The following week I observed a Bible lesson in Kindergarten and was amazed at the knowledge our Kindergarten students have of the Word of God. Mrs. Jung was teaching from Joshua 5:13-15. After reading the passage and reviewing what they had learned about the Israelites leading up to that point, the students got to experience “marching around the walls of Jericho” complete with trumpets, the Ark of the Covenant, and brick walls to knock down!
- First Grade was my destination this week, where I learned all about the process of mummification. Students have been studying ancient Egypt as part of their history lessons and they had the opportunity to put their learning into practice by going through the steps of mummification of a favorite stuffed animal. They also practiced the skill of sequencing, by using picture cards of the step by step process to sequence. The best part was hearing the students share how what they had learned and exclaiming, “That was fun!”
There is never a dull moment at Logos! Students are always learning (and so is this Headmaster)!
Blessings,
Pam Duarte
